General Manager

This position is ideal for a people builder with 10 years of manager/executive level experience in production management overseeing 100+ employees. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations & Technology and manages all production operations at the Toronto facility. The successful candidate will ensure the quality delivery of products and services in a timely and cost-efficient manner, while developing the capabilities of his/her direct reports.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of related print manufacturing and plant management experience
  • Strong background in managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, forecasting, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply all organization policies, government regulations, and legislation relating to quality, health & safety, environment, and human resources
  • Proven experience and achievements in the management of health & safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills, ability to foster team environments and drive employee growth
  • Ability to implement change to improve operations and drive continuous process improvements
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Lean Management Training; certification as a Lean Master, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Project Management Professional is an asset
  • Bilingual (English & French) is preferred
  • University degree in Engineering, Graphic Communications Management, Business Administration or other related field of study is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a culture of excellence in lean manufacturing that is aligned with the organizational vision
  • Define, manage, and optimize budgets for operations including human and material resources
  • Ensure optimal management of production and overall plant performance achieves performance targets using Daily Management System (DMS)
  • Design operational plans and ensure their successful implementation
  • Establish operational objectives, manage team performance, develop employees, and succession plan to meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve goals
