Ensuring that our employees have a safe working environment has always been a priority at Webcom. That is why we established a Safety Team made up of representatives from each department. This year, we've furthered our commitment by joining the Safety Groups Program, an initiative of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and sponsored by the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association (OPIA). Webcom joins over 50 other companies in the printing industry, all members of the OPIA, who will share information about what their organization is doing to make their facility a safer place in which to work.
The goal of the program is to reduce injuries and illness in the workplace by making prevention a priority. Companies participating in the Safety Groups Program are expected to implement or improve upon the prevention programs in their workplaces by focusing on a number of main areas: leadership, organization, hazard recognition, assessment and controls.
Employee participation and management support are key to the success of this program. Safety Team members have the responsibility to perform regular safety checks, handle suggestions from other employees and promote safety at Webcom.
