We're always looking for ways to deliver improved quality and greater efficiencies to Webcom customers. With that in mind, we have now installed a new six-colour Heidelberg sheetfed press.
With this new sheetfed press, customers can expect a number of improvements in the quality of covers and colour inserts. One difference you will see is enhanced image quality. Covers and inserts will show cleaner halftones and screens due to better registration and sharper resolution. Plus, a job archive feature will store information on previous runs, so reprints will now have a precise colour match. This press can even print on two sides of the paper in one pass (when the second side requires one colour only) for greater efficiency.
Six-colour capability also means that we can print four-colour plus a special colour, and apply an aqueous sealer to improve the coating adhesion of covers - all at the same time. Some of the benefits of aqueous coating are:
- Better results with off-line coatings - higher quality and a smoother finish by eliminating the use of spray powder
- Improved results for Metallic covers
- Superior to standard press varnishes - more durable, better scuff-resistance and no "yellowing"
- It's water not solvent based, making it environmentally safer than standard press varnishes.
