CREATING POSTSCRIPT FILES - Applications

CREATING POSTSCRIPT FILES FROM QUARKXPRESS 3.32 FOR MACINTOSH

Step 1

  1. Go to the Edit Menu. Select Preferences. Select Application. (see Figure 1).
  2. Change Register Marks Offset to 24 pt.

Step 2

  1. From the File Menu, select Page Setup.
  2. For Printer Type, select Prinergy Refiner. This printer description can be downloaded from our web site.
  3. Enter the Resolution as 2400 and the Halftone Screen as 120.
  4. For Paper Width, add 1" to the width of your document. For example, if your document size is 6" x 9", make the Paper Width 7".
  5. Set Paper Offset and Paper Gap to 0.
  6. Use PDF Screen Values should be deselected (see Figure 2).
  7. Reduce or Enlarge should be 100% and set Layout to 1 Up (see Figure 3).
  8. Select Options and ensure that all check boxes are deselected (not shown).

Step 3

  1. When you are ready to create your PostScript files, go to the File Menu and select Print.
  2. Change the Destination from Printer to File.
  3. Set Separation to Off even if it is two Colors or more.
  4. Make sure that you have Include Blank Pages checked.
  5. Deselect Collate, Spreads, Thumbnails and Back to Front.
  6. Registration should be Centered (see Figure 4).
  7. Set Format to PostScript Job. Select PostScript Level 2 and 3 (see Figure 5).
  8. For Font Inclusion, select All.
  9. Now press Save and you will be given a new menu. Here you will be prompted for a name for your PostScript file. Use a file naming system that will indicate their order. For example, the PostScript file for the front matter of a book might be named 01front.ps and chapter 1 of the book might be named 02chap1.ps, etc.
  10. Select your destination location and then Save.
