POSTSCRIPT DRIVER SETTINGS FOR WINDOWS 9X

Postscript Driver Settings For WINDOWS 9XInstalling a Print Driver

  1. From your desktop, click the Start button, go to the Settings menu and select Printers. A dialog box will appear (see Figure 1).
  2. Double click on the Add Printer icon to install a PostScript printer driver.
  3. A series of "Add Printer Wizard" windows appear. Select Next> and then Local Printer. Do this even if you are on a network. Select Next>.
  4. From the Manufacturers’ list, select Agfa. From the Printers’ list select Agfa-Proset 9800SF v2013.108. Select Next.
  5. From the Available Ports list, select FILE. Select Next>.
  6. You will be prompted as to whether or not you want this to be the default printer. This is up to you. After you have selected Yes or No, select Next>.
  7. You will now be asked if you want to print a test page. Select No and then select Finish.

After you have installed a printer driver, it will appear in the Printers folder. The icon of a disk next to the printer icon means that it is set to print to a file. Now the driver must be configured.

Configuring the Driver

  1. Select the Agfa-Proset 9800SF v2013.108 icon.
  2. From the File menu in the Printers Folder window, select Properties.
  3. Click PostScript Tab and under PostScript output format, select PostScript (optimize for portability ADSC). This setting is crucial and your files may not be usable if it is not set properly (see Figure 3). Select Download header with each print job.
  4. Select the Fonts tab. Select Send TrueType fonts to printer according to the font Substitution Table. Click "Send Font As" button. Set Send TrueType fonts to Outlines.
  5. Print PostScript error information should be deselected.
  6. Click on the Advanced button.

Selecting Advanced Options
Ensure that the following options are selected:

  1. In the PostScript Tab, click the Advanced button, and set the following options: Use PostScript Level 2 features, No Bitmap compression, ASCII data, and SEND CTRL+D after job.
  2. Select Graphics Options and enter the specifications for the job, including resolution (2400 dpi or 2540 dpi), line screen (120 lpi), screen angle (usually 45°), and scaling percentage (100%) (see Figure 4).
  3. Select the Paper tab. For Paper Size, select Letter for documents 7.5x9 and smaller and Tabloid for documents larger than 7.5x9 if they contain bleeds. (If your documents do not contain bleeds, then Letter is fine for documents up to 8.5 x 11).
  4. Select 1 up and set Orientation to Portrait.
  5. The number of copies should always be 1 and the paper source should be AutoSelect Tray. Click OK twice.
