CREATING POSTSCRIPT FILES
FROM PAGEMAKER 6.5 AND 7 FOR MACINTOSH
Please note that these instructions are for PageMaker 6.5 and 7 only. The instructions for creating PostScript with other versions of PageMaker are slightly different. If you have any questions about using an older version of PageMaker, please contact your Webcom Representative.
Step 1
- From the File Menu and select Print. The first of a set of submenus is the Document Menu.
- For PPD, select Prinergy Refiner* or Acrobat Distiller.
- Deselect Collate, Reverse and Proof.
- Ensure that Print Blank Pages is selected and Orientation is Portrait.
Step 2
- Click the Paper submenu, which is the next submenu.
- Ensure that the Scale size is 100%.
Select Printer’s Marks and Page Information. If your document contains bleeds do not select Printer’s Marks or Page Information. Instead, print hardcopy with the marks and we will it as a guide for setting the margins.
- For Paper Size, select a size that will accommodate the Printer’s marks. Letter size will be fine for most book sizes.
Step 3
- Under the Options submenu set Send Image Data to Normal.
- For Font Inclusion, select PostScript and TrueType.
- Select Use Symbol Font for Special Characters.
- Select Write PostScript to File, select Normal and then Save As to select a destination for your PostScript file. Here you are prompted to name your PostScript file. Use a file naming system that will indicate their order in the book.
Step 4
- In the Colour Submenu Select Composite/Colour
- Ensure that Mirror, Negative and Preserve EPS Colors are all deselected.
- Set Frequency to 120 LPI.
- Click Save to generate the PostScript file.
*NOTE: The Prinergy Refiner is available from our website at www.webcomlink.com.
