POSTSCRIPT DRIVER SETTINGS
FOR WINDOWS XP
You might need the system CD to install the PostScript driver.
- From the Printer Control Panel, click Add Printer.
- Click Next.
- Select Local Printer. De-select Automatically Detect & Install Plug and Play Printer. Click Next.

- In the ‘Use the following port’ drop-down list select File. Click Next

- From the ‘Manufacturer’ list select Agfa and from the list of printers select Agfa-Proset 9800SF v2013.108. Click Next.

- Select whether or not you want this printer to be the default printer for all your documents. Click Next .

- Select Not Shared. Click Next.
- Select No for test page. Click Finish.
Configuring the Driver
- From the File Menu select Printing Preferences.
- From the Layout tab select Portrait.

- Select the Advanced button (bottom of the dialog box).
- From Paper/Output option select Letter for documents 7.5X9 and smaller or Tabloid for documents larger than 7.5X9 if they contain bleeds. (If your documents do not contain bleeds, then Letter is fine for documents up to 8.5X11.)
- From the Graphic options, set Printer Quality to 2400X2400DPI, select TrueType font and change to Download as Soft Font.
- From the PostScript options, set PostScript Output to Optimize for Portability.
- For TrueType Download option, select Outline.

Optional Driver Settings
By default PostScript drivers are configured to substitute certain TrueType fonts with their Type 1 equivalents, namely: Arial to Helvetica, CourierNew to Courier and TimesNewRoman to Times. The following are the steps necessary to change these defaults if these substitutions are not desired.
- In the Printer and Faxes control panel select the PostScript driver that you will be using to generate PostScript.
- Right-click and select Properties.

- In the Properties dialog box select Device Settings.

- Look for a line that reads ‘Font Substitution Table’.
- Double-click ‘Font Substitution Table’. This is a list of all installed TrueType fonts and options on how the PostScript driver is to handle them. By default Arial is set to be substituted with Helvetica, CourierNew with Courier and TimesNewRoman with Times.

- Beside Arial select Helvetica. Click the down-arrow and select <Don’t Substitute>.
- Repeat for other fonts that you don’t want to be substituted.

- Click OK as needed to save the changes.
