WEBCOM FOUNDER STEPS DOWN, NEW PRESIDENT ANNOUNCED
Toronto, Ontario - June 16, 2006 - After 32 years of progressive leadership, Warren Wilkins, founder and Chairman of Webcom has retired from an active role in the company's operations. Mike Collinge has been appointed as Webcom's new President and CEO. At the same time, the name of the company is being changed from Webcom Limited to Webcom Inc.
 Warren Wilkins, Founder, Webcom
Mr. Wilkins' involvement in the printing industry dates back to 1961 when he and partner Bob Chittick formed Web Offset Publications Limited, purchasing and installing a Goss Suburban Web Offset press in a three-car garage. The company became a pioneer in the web offset process when they installed a computerized photo-typesetting system in the mid-sixties. In 1975, Mr. Wilkins founded Webcom Limited where he continued his philosophy of technological innovation. Throughout its history, Webcom has recorded an impressive list of industry firsts: first printer in North America to offer UV coating for book covers, first in Canada to install lay-flat Otabind bookbinding, CREO computer-to-plate systems and digital print technology for book printing. Webcom currently operates full-size web offset, sheet-fed and digital presses.
In addition to making his mark as an innovator and industry leader, Warren has been a dynamic player in many industry associations on both sides of the Canadian and U.S. border. In 2003 he was named Printer of the Year by the publishers of Graphic Monthly and in 2005 was the first Canadian to receive the GALA (Graphic Arts Leaders of the Americas) award for his outstanding contributions.
Mike Collinge, President and CEO, Webcom Inc.
Mr. Collinge started his career with Webcom in 1980 and progressed steadily through various roles of increasing responsibility. During his tenure as VP of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Collinge was instrumental in building Webcom's sales in the U.S. and Canada and in expanding the company's product line to include catalogs, manuals and directories as well as books.
Reflecting on past growth and planning for the future, Mr. Collinge summarizes, "Warren's commitment to lead the printing industry with the latest technology and a focus on efficiencies to benefit our customers is a legacy ingrained in Webcom's culture. As our customers face ever-increasing business challenges, we are poised to help them contend with change with the utmost confidence. Confidence that comes not only from having the right technology, but equally importantly, from having a strong Webcom team."
Jeff Wilkins, Corporate Vice President, Webcom Inc.
Building a strong team starts with strong leadership. As Corporate Vice President, Jeff Wilkins, will spearhead the productivity improvement initiatives designed to increase Webcom's competitiveness and long-term growth. Mr. J. Wilkins has been a driving force behind the launch of Webcom's fully integrated POEM (Production Order Estimating Management) software system that recently received global recognition for gains in efficiency from software giant Microsoft. (See news release dated June 6, 2006.) He will continue to lead the development team responsible for introducing system enhancements to support reliable manufacturing, continuous quality improvement and enhanced customer satisfaction.
Webcom's recent focus on systems integration has been the stimulus for an even greater commitment to productivity. Mr. J. Wilkins explains, "While we have recognized the importance of integrating our business systems for several years, it is only in the past year that we have fully realized how perfect the timing of this integration was. Now that we see the Canadian dollar closing-in on the $1 U.S. mark, we're exactly where we need to be to offset the cost implications with efficiency gains identified through our POEM system. As Corporate Vice President, I plan to dedicate 100% of my energy to achieving our productivity improvement goals."
