MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT SELECTS WEBCOM AS CASE STUDY FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPREHENSIVE CERTIFICATES OF AIR APPROVALS.

Webcom's longstanding reputation as an innovative industry leader recently got a boost on another front. We are now considered an industry leader by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, which will feature Webcom in a special case study outlining our success in completing the Basic Comprehensive Certificate of Approval (Air) (CofA).

Derek Sullivan, Senior Review Engineer, Environmental Assessment and Approvals Branch explains why Webcom was selected. "The Webcom facility was complex enough to fully warrant the flexibility of the Comprehensive CofA but simple enough that people could understand the process and the concepts behind their air emissions. In addition, Webcom as a company demonstrated not only the commitment to environmental compliance but the foresight to embrace the new concept of a Comprehensive CofA."

The CofA is a single certificate that incorporates almost all air-emission sources in one document and has conditions that allow companies to make some modifications to their facility without having to go through a formal application process for each and every process change. This translates into fewer costly delays and more leeway in introducing operational changes and new equipment.

Manuel Gutierrez, Engineer, is emphatic about his support of the CofA. "After purchasing a new press, updating our files and emissions tables which used to take months, took us only a few days with this new program", he explains. "We were able to start printing almost immediately."
